Computer science and machine learning students Ben Paulson and Brett Storoe traded in their laptops for snowmobiles in Santiago, Chile. The two saw their project come to life by witnessing the ice stupas they helped form with the power of AI through a partnership with Nilus, a Chilean-based startup dedicated to the conservation of water resources by utilizing AI to bring back glaciers.

Congratulations to the winners of the 2026 Rosie Supercomputer Super Challenge! This year marked the fifth anniversary of the competition and it was the largest to date with 27 entries-nearly doubling the number of entries received last year. The third annual Hacksgiving: AI for Good Hackathon took place in November at Milwaukee School of Engineering. For Hacksgiving, more than 50 MSOE students across 12 teams put their AI knowledge together to solve a problem for this year's nonprofit partner, the Milwaukee Domes Alliance.

MSOE students Will Heffernan and Fabian Hurndon scored internships with the Milwaukee Bucks through the Milwaukee Bucks Fellowship program. Through the program, the Bucks partner with MSOE, Marquette University and Milwaukee Area Technical College (MATC) to provide students with unique learning experiences, career guidance and offer exposure to the sports industry.

Milwaukee School of Engineering students are out of this world, now literally! Students from Space Raiders, MSOE's Lunabotics student organization on campus, were recently featured on a low-orbit space satellite positioned above Earth.

MSOE's Baja SAE team cruised through the SAE National Competition in Oshkosh, Wisconsin May 4-7, 2023. The team participated in the Cost Event, Acceleration Test, Sled Pull, Design Presentation, Maneuverability, Suspension and the four-hour Endurance Event, which was their best event with a 21st place finish out of 82 teams. The team completed the Endurance Event with 24 laps, making them the highest-ranking school in Wisconsin for that event.

MSOE's NECA Student Chapter is preparing to compete in the Electrical Contracting Innovation Challenge (ECIC), sponsored by ELECTRI International.

MSOE Space Raiders reached for the stars at the annual NASA Lunabotics Competition hosted by NASA's Artemis Program at Kennedy Space Center. The nationwide competition invites top university teams to design, build and operate autonomous lunar mining rovers that simulate real-world excavation tasks critical to establishing a sustained human presence on the moon.

Milwaukee School of Engineering's very own "Team Carbonair" competed at the 2024 Shell Eco-Marathon Americas-one of the world's leading energy-efficiency engineering programs for students. The competition aims to push the boundaries of what is technically possible and provides a platform for teams to use their STEM skills to build their own ultra-energy-efficient cars and then take them out on the track in competition.

A team of MSOE senior seniors presented papers at the 2025 American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) Region III Student Conference at the University of Cincinnati-and took home first place for their work.

MSOE's Raider Robotics team turned heads and set a world record at the 2025 VEX Robotics World Championship in Dallas in May. This annual competition is the premier global event for student robotics teams, organized by the Robotics Education & Competition Foundation (REC Foundation). Thousands of students from more than 60 countries showcase their skills in engineering, programming and teamwork. MSOE competed in the VEXU Robotics Competition, which is targeted at college and university students. This year's competition was known as "High Stakes." There were 109 VEXU teams in attendance, split between two divisions (Technology and Math). MSOE was one of 55 teams in the Technology Division.

Congratulations to the winners of the 2025 Rosie Supercomputer Super Challenge! For the annual challenge at Milwaukee School of Engineering, students demonstrate how they've used Rosie the supercomputer to solve a problem, improve a process or answer a difficult question during the Rosie Supercomputer Super Challenge. A total of 15 entries were received this year, and the winners were chosen after the five finalists presented their projects in front of a team of judges.

Four incoming students at Milwaukee School of Engineering have been awarded the Presidential Scholarship for four years of full tuition. It is MSOE's most prestigious scholarship.

Andrew Nebel, of Deerfield, WI, will graduate from Milwaukee School of Engineering this spring and is looking forward to a job with NVIDIA and their firmware graphics team.
